Night Dive in Cabo

Overview

Night dives always show us an entirely new world. The scene changes as day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms emerge; even a simple dive site looks different at night. When you make a day dive, you usually scan the entire dive site looking at your surroundings. At night, you see only the dive site area lit by your light, which forces you to slow down and concentrate on that one area.

Night Scuba diving: a whole new world

Night dives are a completely different experience than day dives. The vibe is different, the setting & scene change, marine life is different, and you can get a fresh look and a new perspective on the diving site.
Darkness brings out all kinds of fascinating marine life. Day creatures retire and nocturnal organisms and night creatures like Lobsters, Stingrays, Octopuses, Crabs, Parrotfish, Sea Worms, and more emerge.

The scene and setting are also different. Even the most simple dive site looks different at night, so you can only imagine what a spectacle you’ll watch at Pelican Rock, where we usually take our night dives.
Our dive lights will illuminate the walls and reveal a dazzling display of colors that cannot be seen during the day. You can also spot flowering Orange cup corals, a fascinating sight.

The living scene is also different as night hunters come out. You can spot octopuses & Cuttlefish hunts, Parrotfish sleeping inside their protection bubble, and more.
Night dives are more relaxed and easy-going. Since it’s dark and the only area we can see is the one lit by our light, we take our time, dive slowly, concentrate on that one area, and not on the surrounding like in day dives.
This allows us to spot marine life in unexpected places and other sights that can not be seen during the day. Night dives are a calm and unique experience under the moonlight, one that you don’t want to give up.

Your night dive with Manta Scuba

Manta’s PADI certified Divemasters lead a small group of certified divers on this trip. New divers or divers who haven’t dived for more than two years need to dive during the day before the night dive.
We recommend that all divers experience day diving at the site to get to know it better.
We meet at the Manta’s facilities upon sunset for a short recap with our PADI masters. You’ll get a tank, whites, and dive lights. You can rent a full set at the store.
After getting the gear, we head off to the boat for a short, 5-10 minutes ride to the dive site. The ride is taken in comfortable, fully-equipped, custom-made dive boats where you can enjoy the beautiful view of Cabo at night. The entire trip takes about 2 hours.

Once we get to the site, the adventure starts.

The Cabo Marine Reserve – scuba diving Cabo San Lucas
The unique underwater landscapes and vibrating marine life make Pelican Rock one of the most famous diving sites in the world.
Since it is inside the bay of Cortez, the diving conditions are usually excellent, allowing us to dive calmly at night while still enjoying numerous night-time creatures like Lobsters, Crabs, Sea Worms, Stingrays, and octopuses.
